  1. How many working days must the internship be?

    Students are required to complete a total of 40 working days of professional internship.

  2. During which terms can I complete my internship?

Internship activities take place within the undergraduate education period, during the summer holidays following the spring semester, excluding the course and examination periods specified in the academic calendar. Permission must be obtained from the Department Internship Committee for special circumstances.

  1. Should I find my internship placement myself?

Yes, students are required to find the institutions where they will intern themselves. The department or the internship committee is not obliged to find internship placements, but announced internship opportunities are communicated to the students. Internships abroad may be conducted with the recommendation of the Internship Committee and the approval of the Head of the Department.

  1. What are the acceptance criteria for the internship placement?

The institution where the internship will be conducted must employ at least one engineer in the fields of Electrical, Electronics, Communications, Telecommunications, Control, or Mechatronics. Internships conducted at institutions that do not meet this requirement will not be accepted. Students must conduct their internships at institutions, organizations, or departments operating in or focusing on the fields of Electrical-Electronics Engineering services, Design, Facility installation, Production, Test and Measurement, or Research and Development.

  1. May I take leave while interning?

Leave may not be taken except in compulsory cases, and any leave used may not exceed 10% of the internship duration. An internship will be evaluated as unsuccessful for any student who is absent without permission or excuse for three consecutive days or exceeds 10% of the total duration. A student who is unable to continue their internship must provide written notification to the Department Internship Committee within 5 working days, and the internship will be cancelled.

6.Can an internship be done while taking courses in the summer school?

No, an internship cannot be done simultaneously while taking courses in the summer school.

  1. What is the process for applying for an internship?

An application schedule for internships is published during the semester. Within this schedule, the '3 - Internship Application Form' must be filled out (how to fill it out is specified in the '2 - Points to Consider When Filling Out the Internship Form' document), and initial approval must be obtained from the institution where the internship will be conducted. Subsequently, after being approved by the Department Internship Committee, approval must be obtained from the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Engineering. Finally, it is submitted to the Department Internship Committee.

The documents required during the application (in 3 copies) are as follows:

  • Eligibility Certificate (Can be obtained via E-Devlet)

  1. How should the internship report be prepared?

The internship report ('4- Student Internship Report') must be prepared daily, either manually or digitally, technical terminology must be used, supplementary documents must be numbered and attached to the report, and the report must be approved daily by the authorized engineer. Internship files bearing stamps such as 'General Manager' or 'Project Manager' will not be accepted. The Organizational Chart of the Workplace must be included on the first page of the internship report.

The internship report, and its appendices if any, must be submitted to the Department Internship Committee by the date determined by the Department Internship Committee.

  1. Who fills out the Workplace Internship Evaluation Form?

The '5 - Workplace Internship Evaluation Form' is filled out by the authorized supervisor at the institution where the student completed the internship and is submitted in a sealed envelope, signed and stamped, either by mail or through the student. Documents that are not signed and sealed in a closed envelope will not be accepted.

  1. How is the internship evaluated?

Internships are evaluated by the Department Internship Committee. The evaluation is conducted as 'Successful/Unsuccessful.' Internships deemed unsuccessful or insufficient may be required to be repeated partially or entirely

  1. Is it possible to be exempted from previously completed internships?

Previous internships of Vocational School graduates or transfer students may be partially or completely accepted, provided they are officially documented.
